Storytelling. An act of theatre is always an act of storytelling.
This is the core of every production I direct. My directing style emerges from a thorough analysis of the script, a daring and clean visual aesthetic, and a desire to connect to the audience, communicating ideas in a relevant and visceral medium through the utilization of every tool at my disposal. Believing in theatre as the act of storytelling and the art of creation, my mission is to produce dynamic, engaging, and visually stimulating theatre through a collaborative process with actors, designers, and playwrights.
I am drawn to plays containing challenging ideas, socially engaging philosophies, and strong connections to the world at large. I believe in fostering these ideas through all available means in order to make the themes relevant to a modern audience. I fully support and utilize the combination of the classical and the postmodern, the embracing of overtly theatrical conventions, the blending varied forms of media, and the utilization of every other tool at my disposal, theatrical or otherwise. Through the use of these varying styles and traits, I seek to provide the intended audience with empowered and intelligent theatre.
